California-headquartered Synopsys has acquired Netherlands-based system-on-chip (SoC) security firm Intrinsic ID. Joachim Kunkel, general manager of the Solutions Group at Synopsys, stated, "The acquisition of Intrinsic ID complements our extensive semiconductor IP portfolio, further helping designers create SoCs that are at the heart of today's smart and connected devices. We look forward to expanding our R&D presence in the Netherlands with Intrinsic ID's team and establishing a center of excellence for PUF technology in Eindhoven."
GitLab has acquired Israeli application security firm Oxeye. GitLab stated, "With the acquisition of Oxeye, GitLab will accelerate its Static Application Security Testing (SAST) roadmap. Oxeye’s capabilities will also augment GitLab’s software composition analysis and compliance tools."
Open directory platform JumpCloud has acquired asset management and SaaS security company Resmo. JumpCloud stated, "The acquisition broadens JumpCloud’s open directory platform to discover, manage, and control IT assets for secure and streamlined user provisioning, access request management, and utilization monitoring. Resmo’s integration into the JumpCloud platform offers organizations a robust all-in-one solution to proactively meet emerging SaaS management, IT security, and asset management needs."
Investments and exits.
New York-based data security firm BigID has raised $60 million in a growth round led by Riverwood Capital, with participation from Silver Lake Waterman and Advent. The company stated, "With this latest funding, BigID aims to accelerate both organic and inorganic expansion in AI data security and compliance."
Ohio-based software risk management company Finite State has secured $20 million in a growth round led by Energy Impact Partners (EIP). The company says "[t]he investment from EIP and other strategic investors will empower Finite State to accelerate product development efforts and expand its global market presence."
Sunnyvale, California-based software development lifecycle (SDLC) security startup BlueFlag Security has emerged from stealth with $11.5 million in seed funding from Maverick Ventures and Ten Eleven Ventures, with participation from Pier 88 Investment Partners. The company says "the investment will fund the development of BlueFlag’s SDLC security and governance platform, which delivers end-to-end, identity-centric protection across the development lifecycle from code to production."
Los Gatos, California-based data access management company Dymium has raised $7 million in a seed round led by Two Bear Capital, with participation from angel investors, SecurityWeek reports.
New York-headquartered data security company Tarsal has raised $6 million in a seed funding round led by Harpoon Ventures and Mango Capital, with participation from Y Combinator, Abstract Ventures, and Backend Capital. According to FinSMEs, the company "intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts."
Executive moves.
Tarsal has also appointed Barrett Lyon as Chief Technology Officer. Lyon "will lead the development and expansion of Tarsal's core extract, transform and load (ETL) product."
QinetiQ has appointed Charles Fielden as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Intelligence, Cyber, and Information Advantage business unit.
Okta has named Christine Halvorsen as Chief Technology Officer for the public sector, CIO News reports.
Searchlight Cyber has added Caleb Barlow to its board of directors.
Secureworks has appointed William Cary to its board of directors.
