Mastercard has agreed to acquire Massachusetts-based threat intelligence company Recorded Future from Insight Partners for $2.65 billion. Mastercard stated, "Recorded Future provides real-time visibility into potential threats by analyzing a broad set of data sources to provide insights that enable its customers to take action to mitigate risks. This ability, coupled with Recorded Future’s use of AI and other best-in-class technologies, will add to Mastercard’s identity, fraud prevention, real-time decisioning, and cybersecurity services, bringing expanded threat intelligence capabilities to its network of merchants and financial institutions."
Florida-based IT management company ConnectWise has acquired two cybersecurity firms, Axcient and SkyKick, CRN reports. Ameer Karim, EVP and GM at ConnectWise, told CRN, "The strategy behind acquiring both SkyKick and Axcient was to further expand our cybersecurity and data protection portfolios. As cyber threats evolve, data protection and cybersecurity must go hand-in-hand. By integrating these two innovative companies, we’re strengthening our business continuity, disaster recovery and overall data protection offerings."
Scottish cybersecurity firm Quorum Cyber has acquired Canadian managed security services provider Difenda. Quorum stated, "With Difenda’s strong foothold in the North American market, today’s acquisition aligns with Quorum Cyber’s strategic objective to accelerate its global expansion and scale meaningfully into new regions. Simultaneously, joining Quorum Cyber will enable Difenda to deliver more value, new and enhanced services, and more Microsoft innovations for customers."
San Jose, California-based microsegmentation company ColorTokens has acquired secure identity and access management provider PureID. The company stated, "The acquisition of PureID supports significant security enhancements to ColorTokens’ Enterprise Microsegmentation Platform, Xshield, by incorporating identity-based segmentation for cloud and containerized, IoT/OT, and user environments."
Investments and exits.
Utah-based strategic intelligence provider Strider Technologies has secured $55 million in a Series C round led by Pelion Venture Partners with participation from AXA Venture Partners (AVP) and existing investors Valor Equity Partners, DataTribe, and Cyfr Capital. The company stated, "With this funding, Strider will continue advancing its AI-driven capabilities into its integrated global intelligence platform, expand operations to new geographies in Europe and Asia, and more aggressively address the public sector market."
Maryland-headquartered non-human identity and access management company Aembit has raised $25 million in a Series A round led by Acrew Capital, with participation from existing investors Ballistic Ventures, Ten Eleven Ventures, Okta Ventures, and CrowdStrike Falcon Fund.
Florida-headquartered digital executive protection company BlackCloak has secured $17 million in a Series B round led by Baird Capital, with participation from Blue Heron Capital, TDF Ventures, and TechOperators. The company says the "funding will be used to enhance BlackCloak's personal cybersecurity platform for corporate executives, high-net-worth individuals, and family offices."
Cloud access governance company P0 Security has raised $15 million in a Series A round led by SYN Ventures, with participation from Zscaler and existing investor Lightspeed Venture Partners. The company says the new funds "will be allocated to significantly scale P0 Security’s go-to-market and engineering teams, fueling our overall growth."
French offensive security-as-a-service provider Patrowl has raised €11 million (US$12.2 million) in a Series A round from Crédit Mutuel Innovation, SWEN Capital Partners, BPIfrance, and existing investor Auriga Cyber Ventures. The company stated, "These funds will allow Patrowl to intensify its conquest of the European market and R&D."
San Francisco-based IT cybersecurity management company Metabase Q has raised $11 million in a Series A extension led by SYN Ventures. The company says it "will use the new funding to meet record customer demand and scale go-to-market."
Application security provider Operant has secured $10 million in a Series A round led by SineWave Ventures and Felicis, with participation from Alumni Ventures, Massive, Calm Ventures, Gaingels, and angel investors.
Israeli threat exposure management platform provider Element Security has raised $5 million in a seed round from Q Fund and angel investors. FinSMEs says the company "intends to use the funds to expand operations and its development efforts."
Boston-based security analytics platform provider Realm.Security has emerged from stealth with $5 million in seed funding from Accomplice and Glasswing Ventures.
Developer security startup Arcjet has raised $3.6 million in seed funding led by Zane Lackey at Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Seedcamp and angel investors. The company stated, "Our first SDK for JavaScript has been in alpha for several months as we refined the API based on developer feedback. We’ll soon be stabilizing the API and graduating the JS SDK to beta. This paves the way for expanding support to other languages, with the Python SDK next in line. In the coming weeks, we will also introduce new features designed to enhance your application’s security."
