Miami-headquartered data security firm Varonis has acquired database activity monitoring provider Cyral. Varonis stated, "By combining Cyral’s cloud-native DAM with Varonis’ robust and growing database security capabilities, customers can begin to upgrade their costly legacy solutions and shatter the silos that have traditionally separated structured and unstructured data security."
Florida-based compromise assessment company Lumu has acquired Spanish threat intelligence firm Maltiverse. The company says "[t]his strategic acquisition enhances Lumu’s ability to provide customers with deeper compromise context and strengthens its real-time threat intelligence capabilities."
Australian IT company Brennan has acquired Canberra-headquartered cybersecurity firm CBR Cyber. The company says the acquisition will "strengthen Brennan’s already robust cyber security capabilities, expand the company’s national footprint and bolster its credentials across all levels of government."
Investments and exits.
Dallas-based secure enterprise browser provider Island has secured $250 million in a Series E round led by Coatue Management, with participation from several existing investors. The funding brings the company's valuation to $4.8 billion. Island's CEO and co-founder Mike Fey says the funding "will help scale our product development and talent acquisition to meet enterprises’ demanding and evolving IT needs."
Indian mobile app security company Protectt has raised $8.7 million (INR 76Cr) in a Series A round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The company says the funding will be used to enhance its "AI-driven mobile app security solution platform, accelerate product innovation, build new solutions for AI Security, nurture niche talent in Cyber security, and support its global expansion initiatives in the US, Middle East & APAC."
New York-based social engineering prevention startup Charm Security has emerged from stealth with $8 million in seed funding led by Team8. The company says it will use the funding "to expand its team, accelerate product development, broaden its market reach, and forge strategic partnerships to increase the adoption of its scam prevention platform."
Delaware-headquartered AI security startup SplxAI has raised $7 million in a seed round led by LAUNCHub Ventures, with participation from DNV Ventures, Inovo, Rain Capital, Runtime Ventures, and South Central Ventures. The company says the funding "will accelerate the development and adoption of the SplxAI Platform."
Israeli data loss prevention startup Orion Security has emerged from stealth with $6 million in seed funding led by PICO Venture Partners and FXP, with participation from Underscore VC and Qino Cyber Capital.
McLean, Virginia-based incubation firm Red Cell Partners has launched software security firm Hunted Labs with $3 million in pre-seed funding.
Executive moves.
Forcepoint has named Guy Shamilov as Chief Information Security Officer and Bakshi Kohli as Chief Technology Officer and Head of Global Engineering. The company also expanded Naveen Palavalli’s role to Chief Product Officer and Chief Marketing Officer.
Linx Security has appointed Sarit Reiner Frumkes as Chief Technology Officer.
SplxAI has added Sandy Dunn as CISO.
