Proofpoint has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hornetsecurity, a German provider of Microsoft 365 security services. The companies haven't disclosed the terms of the acquisition, but the Record cites a source as saying the deal was valued at valued at "well over" $1 billion. Sumit Dhawan, CEO of Proofpoint, stated, "With the addition of Hornetsecurity, we’re excited to extend our industry-leading, human-centric security platform to better serve the unique needs of MSPs and SMBs. We look forward to deepening our investment in the European markets as part of our global growth strategy."
Ohio-based PKI management firm Keyfactor has acquired Canadian cryptographic posture management firm InfoSec Global and CipherInsights, a cryptographic discovery solution developed by Quantum Xchange. Keyfactor stated, "These strategic acquisitions position Keyfactor as the leader in digital trust and quantum readiness, bringing together the most comprehensive solutions to discover and inventory cryptographic assets with automated certificate lifecycle management and quantum-ready PKI and signing solutions."
French telecommunications product provider EKINOPS has agreed to acquire Secure Service Edge software company Olfeo (also based in France). EKINOPS stated, "This combination creates a leading European player in the fast-growing SSE (Security Service Edge) and SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) markets for networks cybersecurity, bringing French cybersecurity expertise to the European and global stage."
Investments and exits.
San Jose, California-based data governance and security company Theom has raised $20 million in a Series A round led by Wing VC, with participation from Sentinel One, Snowflake, and Databricks. The company says the "new capital will be used to accelerate product development, scale go-to-market operations, and expand Theom's team."
San Francisco-based incident response platform provider BreachRx has raised $15 million in a Series A round led by Ballistic Ventures, with participation from SYN Ventures, Overline, and Silver Buckshot Ventures. The company says it will "use the new funding to scale its go-to-market and engineering teams to accelerate adoption and innovation."
Virginia-based cloud security company ClearVector has raised $13 million in a Series A round led by Scale Venture Partners, with participation from Okta Ventures, Inner Loop Capital, and existing investor Menlo Ventures. The company says it "will use the funding to expand the team to meet customer demand."
Virginia-based cyber compliance automation platform provider Kovr.ai has emerged from stealth with $3.6 million in seed funding led by IronGate and Xfund with participation from Hack Factory, OODA Ventures, and McLean Capital. The company says it "will use the funds to accelerate growth by expanding its go-to-market, AI engineering and product development teams."
