IDF claims to have destroyed Iran's cyber warfare headquarters.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claims to have destroyed Iran's cyber warfare headquarters after bombing a compound in eastern Tehran last week, SC Media reports. The IDF said the compound housed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps's (IRGC's) "cyber and electronic headquarters."
The impact on Tehran’s cyber capabilities remains unclear, particularly since the Iranian government often relies on proxy groups or hacktivists to conduct cyber operations. Politico quotes Lt. Gen. Charles Moore, former deputy commander of US Cyber Command, as saying the strikes will likely have "a significant impact on the regime’s ability to continue to execute these types of [cyber] operations.” Moore added, however, that “that doesn’t mean proxy forces or others that are ideologically aligned with the regime can’t still attempt to conduct operations against us or Israel."
