A survey by FedScoop and StateScoop suggests that US Federal agencies are almost equally at risk of falling victim to ransomware attacks as state and local governments. Thirty percent of Federal respondents said their agencies had been impacted by ransomware in the past three years, compared to thirty-two percent of state government respondents. A quarter of the Federal respondents said they had paid the ransom.
Governor Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas signed an executive order to establish a State Computer Science and Cybersecurity Task Force, Talk Business and Politics says. The task force is made up of leaders in education, industry and government who will enhance the state's cybersecurity and computer science education programs.

The US Army is reviewing whether the China-based app TikTok presents security or intelligence risks, CNBC reports. Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy said Army Cyber Command is looking at potential vulnerabilities posed by the app, and he expects to be briefed on its findings around Christmas.
