JDSupra reports that US commercial and industrial business holding company CIC Group, Inc. suffered a data breach in which confidential client data were exposed. Few details have been shared, but according to the company’s filing with the Texas Attorney General, an investigation conducted by CIC Group has confirmed that some confidential information in the company’s possession was made available to an unauthorized party. The compromised data potentially include client names, addresses, and Social Security numbers, and CIC Group sent notification letters to the impacted individuals earlier this week. The company and its subsidiaries (which include Nooter, Nooter Ericksen, Wyatt, and Delta Bundle/Extraction Mechanical) support clients in the energy sector looking to solve engineering and construction challenges.

IMA Financial Group, Inc, an integrated financial services company located in the US state of Kansas, also disclosed a breach in which an unauthorized party gained access to consumer data. JDSupra explains that IMA first detected unusual network activity on October 19, 2022, after which the company secured the network and enlisted a team of cybersecurity specialists to conduct an investigation. It was determined that certain folders containing confidential information belonging to consumers had been accessed by an unauthorized individual. Consumer names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license and other government identification numbers were exposed, as well as some health data and information related to insurance claims.
