Proofpoint has agreed to acquire email security firm Tessian. The company stated, "With the acquisition of Tessian, Proofpoint will enhance its threat and information protection platforms by adding powerful layers of AI-powered defense that address risky user behaviors, including misdirected email and data exfiltration."
Palo Alto Networks has entered into an agreement to acquire data security posture management firm Dig Security. Lee Klarich, Chief Product Officer for Palo Alto Networks, stated, "As companies build AI-enabled applications, there will be a substantial increase in the amount of data transferred to the cloud. Dig's highly innovative DSPM technology helps safely enable this shift, and its dedicated team will complement and help advance Palo Alto Networks' strengths across cloud security. The announcement of our intent to join forces with Dig reinforces our longstanding commitment to our team in Israel and to continue growing our footprint with its talented and dedicated cybersecurity professionals."
HUB Cyber Security has signed a letter of intent (LOI) to acquire an unnamed "company with cutting-edge technology in the automation of cyber risk detection and responses." HUB stated, "The LOI contemplates that both companies will engage in a strategic alliance via marketing the combined solutions of both companies in the U.S., the EU, and in Israel."
Investments and exits.
In case you missed it, Island, a pioneer in the enterprise browser category, has announced a $100 million C-round. The investment, led by Prysm Capital and joined by Canapi Ventures and existing venture investors Insight Partners, Stripes, Sequoia, Cyberstarts, and Georgian, gives Island a valuation of $1.5 billion. Island is headquartered in Dallas and has R&D facilities in Tel Aviv.
Customer identity platform provider FusionAuth has secured a $65 million growth equity investment from Updata Partners. The company stated, "With its first fundraise and after widespread developer adoption, FusionAuth will scale go-to-market and product development to meet increasing demand for a modern approach to customer identity. Updata’s Dan Moss, Principal, and Jon Seeber, General Partner, will join the board as part of the round."
Software supply chain security firm Chainguard has raised $61 million in a Series B round led by Spark Capital and existing investors Sequoia Capital, Amplify Partners, The Chainsmoker's Mantis VC, and Banana Capital. The company says it "plans to use the new funding to support growth by expanding the global go-to-market team, investing in product research and innovation and expanding customer support services."
SIEM and log management company Graylog has raised $39 million in a funding round led by new investor Silver Lake Waterman and existing investors Piper Sandler Merchant Banking and Harbert Growth Partners. The company "plans to leverage the new funding to accelerate product development and differentiation, scale global go-to-market operations, and bridge to profitability."
AI security company Cranium has secured $25 million in a Series A round led by Telstra Ventures, with participation from KPMG LLP and SYN Ventures. The company stated, "The funds will be used for innovation, research and development (R&D), and business expansion. Cranium’s newest round will build company growth, strengthen customer momentum, and accelerate Cranium Enterprise software platform innovation through product development; scale go-to-market strategies, including sales and marketing efforts; allow investment in R&D to further visibility into the security of AI systems; enhance security, regulation, and compliance in AI/ML environments against adversarial threats; and reinforce its teams and customers with additional support."
BlackBerry has appointed board member Richard Lynch as interim CEO after the company's current chief executive retires on November 4th, the Wall Street Journal reports.
