When we reach this point in the year, I like to take stock, see where I've been, what I've accomplished, and plan what is to come. 2023 is playing like a movie in my mind with some things seeming so recent, others far away. In the words of Ferris Bueller, "Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Personally and professionally, life has been moving pretty fast. We've attended a college graduation for our older daughter and since moved her to start her new life pursuing her PhD in chemistry a mere 12-hour drive from home. Happily, our younger daughter is home from college with us this summer. Who knows what the future holds for them?
At N2K Networks, we've embarked on some exciting changes. We are refocusing our content on the media team and as things move on to more final stages later this summer, I'm excited to share those with you. We attended the RSA Conference and our team has been back out traveling. Our CSO Rick Howard and I recently attended AWS Re:Inforce and had some fantastic conversations which we are sharing on the CyberWire Daily podcast. We met some amazing women doing great work at AWS including Nancy Wang, Jenny Brinkley, and Becky Weiss. I invite you to listen to their interviews.
What's next? Well, for me, our Women in Cybersecurity Reception is always on my mind and now, it's less than four months away! My colleague, Emily Bradford, and I talk a bit about it later in this issue. The highlights are: requests for invitations are open, we are again holding a panel, and our call for artists will soon be announced. Stay tuned for more details. Have a fantastic summer and let us know what you are doing. We'd love to hear from you. If you are interested in sharing your work in a future issue, email me. Don't forget to look around once in a while and enjoy! Cheers!
Have you attended one of our women in cyber events in the past? What was your favorite part of the event–the networking, meeting a mentor or mentee, hearing from the panel, getting a print of the event's art for that year? We’d love to hear from you. Tweet us your favorites to @thecyberwire and use the hashtags #womenincyber and #cyberwomenconnect.
